First post: toffee apples!

So I tried to recreate the amazing toffee apples I had at a friend's house for her church gathering. They didn't turn out as chewy or as buttery, but rather brittle. Still, they were nice, though in a different kinda way.

I would put up also the recipe I used, but I can't seem to find it. I had a bit of trouble as I couldn't work out what kind of vinegar to use in the recipe; it turns out that you need to add about 1/2 teaspoon of normal white wine vinegar (you can get it really cheap at supermarkets) so that the toffee will harden. Mine did harden, quite a bit, and I suppose that's the way toffee apples are s'pposed to be (I'm not that sure, having only had it a couple of times), but I kinda preferred the chewy type?

Note to self: add less white wine vinegar to the caster sugar/water syrup mixture next time.

Welcome

Hi there!
Welcome to my new blog (!)
Here I plan to record recipe ideas, food inspirations and any desserts (because they will inevitably be desserts, knowing me) that I've made and which have made me happy, before they flit out of my head and dissipate into the floating air around it. And, er, before they are digested and promptly forgotten about.

Dessert is often my most favourite part of the meal, and it is desserts' memories which linger in my head and give me motivation to get in the kitchen and spend time creating something, which, hopefully will give others pleasure as well as myself. So it is about desserts (mostly) that I plan to write about here.

Challenge to self: don't actually forget this blog exists and try to jot down what you've made. Gottit.

Happy reading!
