First post: toffee apples!

So I tried to recreate the amazing toffee apples I had at a friend's house for her church gathering. They didn't turn out as chewy or as buttery, but rather brittle. Still, they were nice, though in a different kinda way.

I would put up also the recipe I used, but I can't seem to find it. I had a bit of trouble as I couldn't work out what kind of vinegar to use in the recipe; it turns out that you need to add about 1/2 teaspoon of normal white wine vinegar (you can get it really cheap at supermarkets) so that the toffee will harden. Mine did harden, quite a bit, and I suppose that's the way toffee apples are s'pposed to be (I'm not that sure, having only had it a couple of times), but I kinda preferred the chewy type?

Note to self: add less white wine vinegar to the caster sugar/water syrup mixture next time.
